Russian Minister to tackle energy issues at Gastech

Alexander Novak, the Minister of Energy for Russia is set to deliver a speech that will give fresh insight into the country’s strategy on energy. It will be the Minister’s first press conference in the UK since he was appointed to the role in May this year.
Novak will give his speech on Tuesday at Gastech, the largest gathering of industry leaders in London. The event, which takes place on 8-11 October at Excel London, will see the Russian energy minister taking to the stage alongside other ministers such as Ed Davey, the UK Energy Minister and a host of other industry figures.
With Russia now in the World Trade Organisation, Novak will discuss the implications this will have in supplying its neighbours and also those further afield. Indeed, international relationships will feature heavily in the speech with a growing number of opportunities emerging and challenges arising on various fronts. He will discuss whether Russia envisages maintaining its role as a major European gas supplier as well as plans for future cooperation with both Europe and Asia.
In his agenda-setting speech, Alexander Novak will detail how gas supply will change and which advantages will be brought to EU customers by the launch of 2nd stage of Nord Stream. Minister Novak will also be speaking on investment opportunities in Russia, new trends in Russia's oil and gas policy and government initiatives on working with foreign investors.
