Tata Group

An enduring national symbol of economic self-reliance and dependability, Tata Group is Asia's oldest and most beloved conglomerate. Today, the world-acclaimed group is India’s largest private steel manufacturer, and the country’s largest private-sector employer, with its largest private power utility.

Tata Group is the product of the Tata dynasty – a string of celebrated leaders and philanthropic reformists. The fact that Tata Group has only ever been run by a Tata, says something incredible about the nature of the family business as much as the achievements of its forebears.

The latest Tata to take to the helm is Ratan Tata, India's most-fêted businessman, whose most famous contribution to the Tata legacy is perhaps the Tata Nano. The group may be best known for its various vehicles, but its recent four-wheeled success, the dinky Nano, has made BIG headlines. Already available to purchase in India, it is anticipated that 'the People's Car' will be heading to the US auto market by 2011 with a $2,300 price tag.
